Mark J. Papa, a licensed landscape architect in Connecticut and New York, has been active in the landscape design and construction industry for over fifteen years. His experience includes single and multi-family residential, commercial, municipal, and environmental site planning, engineering and design, project management and construction.

Through years of design experience, Mark realizes residential clients differ significantly from his commercial clients. Residential clients are more proactive and passionate about their projects. They intuitively know how they want to use their landscape and how it might look, but they do not necessarily know where to begin. Designing your landscape begins by understanding that the landscape is an extension of your lifestyle.

The residential landscape is where children play and grow, where families are woven together through special moments and experiences, and where daily events combine to create a lifetime of memories. Landscape is where we relax after a long workday, reflect on thoughts, read a favorite book or newspaper. We play baseball with our cousins, volleyball with our friends or horseshoes with our grandparents. Landscape is where we have graduation and 4th of July picnics, dinner and pool parties, it is where we enjoy hobbies such as gardening and bird watching. Landscape can be formal, natural, simple, ornate, country or city – no matter which type of landscape you have or desire, it should compliment your lifestyle.

Mark established and has organized Sophora,llc to help the residential client obtain their landscape goals through a design process that begins with understanding the client’s lifestyle, and culminates with quality construction, maintenance and care of their new landscape.
